Well underway on his massive 46 date tour, aptly named “Tour For You My Whole Life”, Matt Maltese made a stop last weekend to the Riviera in Uptown Chicago, with support from Cornelia Murr to delight fans with his balladic vocals and one-of-a-kind brand of yearning.

Almost a decade into his career, Maltese has become, without a doubt, a master of his craft. With six studio albums (including his newest, ‘Hers’, which released earlier this year) under his belt, an ever-growing list of songwriting credits, and his own indie label, Matt Maltese has carved a niche within the indie scene that is entirely his own.

Hopelessly romantic and devastatingly witty, Maltese’s piano-driven, melancholic sound is just as relatable as it is theatrical. Tracks like “Everyone Adores You (At Least I Do)” feel intimately soft, while others, like the TikTok trending “As the World Caves In” are booming with theatrics. Maltese’s lyrical prowess shines through each track as a self-deprecating-yet-since through line, making each song feel artful, deliberate, and downright sweet.

His latest album ‘Hers’, is described as his most intimate work to-date, can be streamed anywhere you find good music – go give it a listen if you’re feeling a bit introspective, I think it’s best listened to on a meandering evening walk or mid-day trip to the grocery store, but you do you ☺️.
