SHOW GALLERY + RECAP: Last Dinosaurs and Bad Suns bring Apocalypse Whenever Tour to Boston, MA

Updated: Apr 10, 2023

Last week I had the chance to check out the Bad Suns’ Boston stop on their US tour in support of their newest album, Apocalypse Whenever.

Those who came early got to check out Last Dinosaurs, an indie rock group originally hailing from Australia. This was my first time officially seeing the group after hearing them from afar this year at Lollapalooza, and I was blown away by their set. Combining light and bubbly synths and guitars with lyrics laden in echo and harmonies, Last Dinosaurs immediately captured the audiences attention. If you’re not listening to this group yet, I highly recommend checking them out, especially for fans of groups like HUNNY, Wallows, or San Cisco.

The last time I caught up with Bad Suns was actually the first show we reviewed here at Buzzkill, back when we were just a little tumblr account with a dream (I didn’t even know how to get a photo pass let alone shoot a show). It was a nice full circle moment seeing them again, and boy have they been busy since 2019.

Opening with “Heaven Is a Place in My Head”, Bad Suns came out swinging. Lead guitarist and vocalist Christo Bowman jumped from platform to platform, running across the stage as his bandmates (Gavin Bennett on bass and keys & Miles Morris on drums) held down the rhythm section. Their entire set was stacked with hits from every Bad Suns era, including a fair sample of songs from both Disappear Here and Language and Perspective. It was a real treat to see them perform again, and it really seems like there’s no slowing down in sight.
